Engaging packaging for a playful brand, Hayday
Hayday is a Yorkshire-based, family-run business providing delicious variants of hay for small pets. We were approached by their team to create a new brand to launch the company, with a focus on a packaging design that would stand out from the crowd — both in online shopfronts and in-store retailers.
A key challenge was the extensive product information that needed to be included on the packaging. Our solution was to create a set of ownable and identifiable icons so that this information, and key highlights, could be understood by customers at a glance.
We developed the main design around an abstract shape — reminiscent of a large rabbit — wrapped around the pack and works dynamically when boxes are stacked on the shelf. The playful design, alongside fun ‘cut out’ elements on the back of pack, is ideally positioned for the target market of small pet owners. The ‘cut out’ elements in particular were designed to drive social media activity from customers, inspiring them to create their own Hayday content and engage with the brand online.
